HFVPROJECT

HFVProject was designed to reflect on idealized memory, time, and melancholy provoked by situations that are not as we want them to be. The fifteen portraits that form the series present young people under the title HFV or Hypothetical Future Value –a financial definition–, that describes in this context a perennial state of youth, in the classical sense the golden age of beauty, which at the same time is contrasted and overshadow by decay.
In Dark Trough, an extension of the project, the viewers perception is decieved by the after images as the projection suddenly disappear in a full screen of white light, leaving for a moment the negative image recorded in the retina. This simple experience, that proves the limitation of our sight at anyone point compared to its total capacity, is perhaps a reminder that what we see is only the façade of things and that our judgments should be made accordingly.
The small sculpture of a axolotl that is included in the project relates to the species Ambystoma Mexicanum as an example of neoteny trait. It brings to mind both kid's paper constructs and a skeletal structure, and even when this shape has been covered in bitumen to give a further sense of preservation it signals the impossibility in reality for suspending time.
